At 50, I thought I needed to suffer to get healthy.
So I joined a gym. Did what everyone said. Lifted heavy. Pushed hard. Ignored the pain.
My body broke down faster than it built up.
Then at 55 I started walking. Just walking.
Every day. Nothing fancy. No equipment. No membership fees.
My body responded. Lost weight. Got stronger. Felt better.
Walking doesn’t sell supplements. Doesn’t require a trainer. Doesn’t make anyone rich.
That’s why nobody’s pushing it.
But your body was built to walk. Not to destroy itself on machines designed for 25-year-olds.
Movement heals you. Overtraining breaks you.
I’m 72 now. I still walk every single day. I do contracted stretching and Qigong. I move intentionally.
No gym. No injuries. No quitting because it’s too hard.
The fitness industry wants you to believe simple doesn’t work. Because simple doesn’t make them money.
Your great-grandparents stayed strong without a gym membership.
So can you.
Are you moving, or are you just punishing yourself?
