An added note from the night owl he chose to marry. It doesn't have to be morning.

Maybe its a moment on the deck in the quiet of the night before you go to bed. We may be less rural these days but an outdoor break is great before bed. The neighborhood is calm. Next to no traffic. Breeze rustles the trees. The Littles take their last pit stop before bed.

When we were still out at the farm 2am was one of my favorite times of the day. I would head down to the barn. Check on the critters. Make sure all the babies were good, water levels satisfactory, just a general status check. Then I would sit at the picnic table on the deck next to the barn and chill. My mare, Tess, would generally join me. We would talk and listen to the night sounds. You could hear the subtle sounds of owls stealthily flying by, the eerie alarm of coyotes in the distance (thank heavens), frogs at the creek and the gentle sounds of the alpacas, some in the barn, some in the pasture. It was calming, grounding, nurturing. A great way to head to bed.

Wherever you are, there are those places and times. Seek them out. They will enrich you.
