Ever stared down a bag of chips…
Knew you didn’t want them…
And still ate them anyway?
Yep. Been there. More times than I care to admit.
And you know what?
It wasn’t the chips.
It was the story in my head.
“I’ve already blown it.”
“I deserve this.”
“I’ll start again tomorrow.”
That’s not hunger.
That’s what researchers call the “What the Hell” Effect.
You slip a little… then say, “Ah, what the hell,” and dive headfirst into the deep end.
But that story?
That’s the real problem.
Not the snack.
Not the craving.
Not your willpower.
So let’s flip the script.
What if you said:
“I don’t do that anymore.”
“I take care of myself now.”
“I choose freedom over food.”
Feel that?
That’s not willpower.
That’s identity.
It’s not what you’re forcing.
It’s who you are becoming.
And once you believe the new story…
You start living like it’s true.
Because it is.
Today’s Tip
Pick one new identity statement and repeat it every time you walk into the kitchen.
Try this:
“I don’t eat to feel better. I move. I breathe. I reset.”
It’ll feel awkward at first. That’s normal.
Say it anyway.
Because tomorrow… we begin.
