What I'm Not Doing January 1st
January 1st I’m not joining a gym.
Not starting a 30-day challenge. Not doing a juice cleanse. Not buying a meal plan or a fitness program or any of the garbage they’re selling you right now.
You know what I’m doing January 1st?
The exact same thing I did today. And yesterday. And every day for the last 17 years.
Moving my body. Eating real food. Showing up.
That’s it.
No dramatic transformation. No before and after photos. No “new year, new you” nonsense.
Because here’s what they won’t tell you: Those 30-day challenges are designed to fail. The juice cleanses wreck your metabolism. The gym memberships bank on you quitting by February.
They profit from your cycle of guilt and hope.
Start strong in January. Burn out by March. Feel terrible about yourself. Then they sell you the same thing again next year.
I reversed Type 2 diabetes at 55 doing the opposite. No shortcuts. No quick fixes. Just daily movement and real food.
And at 72, I’m still doing it. Because it works. Because it’s sustainable. Because it doesn’t require motivation—just consistency.
The fitness industry hates people like me. I haven’t bought their products in 17 years.
I just move. Every single day.
So while everyone else is signing up for programs that’ll be abandoned by Valentine’s Day, I’ll be doing what actually works.
What are you choosing? The shiny new promise or the boring thing that actually changes your life?
