People ask me all the time, “Dave, what do you eat to stay so active at 71?”
Well, here’s the truth: I eat simple, real food that makes me feel good, move better, and stay sharp. That’s it. No counting calories. No starving. No magic powders or celebrity-approved snack bars.
Mostly, I stick to meats, eggs, and very few above ground veggies. I enjoy healthy fats like butter, olive oil, and avocados. I don’t touch seed oils. I keep sugar way down and grains? Rare as a unicorn doing yoga.
I love a good ribeye. Add a side of steamed broccoli or sautéed spinach with garlic, and I’m a happy guy. Most days I skip breakfast. It’s called targeted intermittent fasting … and it gives my body a chance to reset and burn some of the fluff.
I drink plenty of water. And I enjoy black coffee like it’s a warm hug in a mug.
Look, eating this way isn’t a diet. It’s a decision. One that’s helped me ditch the inflammation, stay off meds, and keep up with grandkids and students half my age.
You don’t have to live sore, stiff, and foggy.
Food is fuel. The cleaner the fuel, the smoother the ride.
“You are what you eat,” they say. So don’t be fast, cheap, easy, or fake.
Today, pick one meal and make it real. Protein, an above ground veggie, and a healthy fat. Skip the bread and sugar. See how you feel. You just might surprise yourself.
