Yesterday I told you about a woman whose reason for getting stronger was standing next to her.
A 16-hand horse.
I’ve been thinking about that ever since.
Not the horse, exactly.
The reason.
People come to us wanting better balance, stronger legs, more flexibility, less stiffness.
Fine.
But I’ve never met anybody who wakes up in the morning passionate about improving their hip mobility.
They want what the hip lets them do.
Peggy and I had a break in the weather recently and said, let’s go.
That’s one of mine.
I want to be able to keep saying that.
Let’s take a walk. Let’s drive somewhere. Let’s go see what the birds are doing. Let’s get down there and look at that. Let’s go somewhere we’ve never been.
I don’t particularly care what my balance score is.
I care whether my body keeps letting me say yes.
So that’s my question for you this morning.
What are you trying to stay able to do?
Or maybe there’s something you’d like to be able to do again.
Forget the exercise for a minute.
What’s the life underneath it?
Tell me. I’d genuinely like to know.
