The Stretching Everyone Does Actually Makes You Weaker...
You see them in every gym. Pulling on cold muscles. Holding static stretches before they move.
They think they’re preventing injury. They’re actually setting themselves up for it.
Static stretching before activity temporarily weakens your muscles. Makes them less responsive. Less stable.
Your body doesn’t work that way. Muscles need to be engaged while they lengthen. Contracted and stretched at the same time.
That’s called contracted stretching. And it’s what saved me from three surgeries back in 2007.
You contract the muscle while you stretch it. Sounds backwards. It’s not.
It builds strength and flexibility together. Your muscles get longer AND more powerful.
Regular stretching just pulls on tissue that isn’t ready. Contracted stretching activates it, strengthens it, teaches it to work through its full range.
I’m 72 and I move better than I did at 50. Not in spite of stretching. Because I learned to stretch the right way.
Most people are doing it wrong and wondering why nothing changes.
What if the thing you’re doing to help is actually keeping you stuck?
Until I talk to you again, move well, stay healthy and be happy. Have an amazing day!
