For the best rest, start thinking in 90-minute cycles.
Yep, just 90 minutes.
Here’s the deal:
Your body has this natural rhythm where it moves through sleep in these little 90-minute cycles.
That’s why the old "8 hours a night" advice might not be quite right for everyone.
Instead, try aiming for about 7.5 or 9 hours of sleep.
That gets you either five or six full cycles—and here’s why it matters.
When you wake up at the end of a cycle, your brain is ready to start the day.
You’ll feel more refreshed, less groggy, and way more ready to tackle whatever’s ahead.
So if you’re used to just setting a random alarm or hitting snooze a few times, try this instead.
Do a little math and figure out what time you’d need to go to bed to wake up at the end of a cycle.
And give yourself a week to test it out.
Skip the snooze button and aim to wake up right when a cycle wraps up.
Trust me—your body and mind will thank you.
Move well, stay healthy, be happy, find your purpose and live your life with passion.
This is very interesting. I have a CPAP machine and it records how many hours a night I sleep. Of the last 5 nights, I slept 7.5 hours 3 times, 9 hours once and 4.5 hours once. All the times I woke up were at the end of 90 minute sleep cycles..... hmmmmm. Even though 4.5 is not ideal, now it makes sense. I noticed in October more than half the days I woke up after a 90 minute sleep cycle. So there is likely something to this
That's excellent, you must be well rested!
