The Movement That Changed Everything (And It Looks Like Nothing)
Ten years ago, I discovered Qigong.
I’d already reversed my diabetes by then. Already lost the weight. Already proven the doctors wrong with real food and resistance stretching.
But Qigong? That became my all-day, every-day movement.
Here’s why.
It’s simple. It’s tied to your breath. And it makes everything else in your body work better.
I start every morning with 5-10 minutes while my coffee brews. Just moving with my breath, waking up my body.
Then at 8am, I lead a class that combines Qigong with resistance stretching.
Throughout the day, I’ll stand up and do a quick routine. Sometimes I’ll pull up a video and follow my instructor for 20 or 30 minutes.
No gym. No equipment. No mind-numbing exercise.
Just movement and breath.
And my body feels better at 72 than it did at 55.
Now, I know what you’re thinking.
Qigong looks too easy. Too slow. Like it couldn’t possibly do anything.
Qigong is moving your body with your breath while tapping into the energy field around you.
Sounds woowoo, I know.
But that energy field can actually be seen in imaging.
And the movements aren’t always easy - you’re often challenging your body in subtle, powerful ways.
Combine that with resistance stretching - where you’re contracting muscles while stretching them - and you’re strengthening and lengthening at the same time.
All easy movement. All incredibly powerful.
This is what saved me from multiple surgeries back in 2007. Proved you can find alternatives to going under the knife.
No pounding your joints. No forcing your body. Just simple, intentional movement that your body actually responds to.
I teach stretching, Qigong, yoga, and Pilates-style classes - but without all the flowery language. Just practical movement that works.
Because here’s the truth: You don’t need to punish yourself to feel strong.
You don’t need complicated routines or expensive memberships.
You just need to move. Breathe. Let your body do what it was designed to do.
Have you tried Qigong or any kind of gentle, breath-focused movement? What did you notice?
Or maybe you’re stuck thinking you need intense exercise to get results. I used to think that too.
Tell me where you are. I’m curious what’s working for you - or what you’re ready to try.
