Movement Is Medicine, Laughter Is the Side Effect
The first time I saw someone start laughing in the middle of class, I thought they’d lost it. Turns out, they’d found it.
They were moving, breathing, and letting go of the stiffness, physically and emotionally. That laughter? It was the sound of healing.
We’ve been taught that exercise has to hurt, that it’s serious business. But the truth is, your body responds better when you’re having fun.
Movement doesn’t have to look like a workout. It can be dancing in your kitchen, stretching in your chair, or walking the dog with a little bounce in your step.
When you move, blood flows. When you laugh, stress melts. Put them together, and you’ve got the cheapest, safest medicine on earth. No side effects, except maybe a sore belly from laughing too hard.
You don’t need fancy equipment or perfect form. You just need to show up for yourself. Wiggle a little. Smile a lot. Let joy sneak back in through your muscles.
Because when you move, you heal.
And when you laugh, you remind your body what happiness feels like.
So today, do both. Move a little. Laugh a lot.
Your future self will thank you with a grin.
