I Quit Punishing Myself and Started Moving Instead
I spent decades thinking working out meant punishment. Yeah, I was completely wrong about that.
Movement isn't some kind of penance you pay for having breakfast.
It's more like checking in with your body to see what it can still do, which turns out to be more than you'd think.
I don't mess with gyms anymore. Stopped timing myself years ago because who cares if I'm three seconds slower than last Tuesday.
The whole performance thing just makes you tense, and then you're not even enjoying it.
These days it's just me figuring out what feels good and what makes things easier instead of harder.
Sometimes that's a walk.
Sometimes it's stretching while I watch the news.
Sometimes it's nothing because my knee is being weird.
That mindset shift though... that actually changed things.
Took me long enough to figure it out.
What about you? How do you think about movement now compared to a decade ago?
